“At the bow there is still something we now share: this murmur, cloud or rain or peaceful smoke. We know ourselves as part and as crowd, in an unknown that does not terrify us.” —Édouard Glissant
As we emerge from the deep fog of pandemic, we see a new bank of clouds on the horizon. What lies within that cloud is the unknown. What does the future hold? What will a post-pandemic world look like? What surprises – both joyful ones and unforeseeable tragedies – lie in store for us? As we think about a changing world and a changing climate, we’ll consider some of the ways that a focus on process and becoming can help us to move into that great cloud of unknowing with courage and conviction.
UU Princeton’s own Rev. Diana Davies is the Minister of the First Unitarian Church of Oklahoma City. Prior to beginning seminary, Diana was a very active member of our congregation, serving on the Board, as a Worship Associate, chairing the Membership Committee, and volunteering in countless other ways. UU Princeton joined First Unitarian Baltimore in jointly ordaining Diana into the UU ministry in 2017. It’s our pleasure to welcome her back home!
