The brilliant writer Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie gave a TED talk in which she described the danger of coming to understand another person or culture through a single narrative. Doing so always presents a distorted image that leads to misunderstanding, and worse. Many different, and sometimes contradictory, stories, identities, blessings, and sins make up who we are. How can we remember to embrace those complexities in others, and ourselves?
