As Unitarian Universalists, we tend to be attracted to the concrete, the how, the here in front of us. The past few decades of LGBTQ+ activism have achieved much in that area: marriage rights, child custody law, hospital visitation. But what about the ineffable, the qualitative, the joyous? Poet Toi Derricotte put it the most succinctly: “Joy is an act of resistance.” Join the Rainbow Ministry as in celebrating Pride Month 2024 through music, meditation and reflections. In a world where many would like to hide LGBTQ+ light back under a bushel, how can UU principles make ours and other congregations places for queer joy?
