The Austrian writer and mystic Rainer Maria Rilke (1875 – 1926) responded to a letter from a young poet he didn’t know with a spiritual and elegant missive. The two then traded letters, leaving us with Rilke’s enduring wisdom. One way of reading Rilke is that he was really writing to his younger self. Through this lens, we can wonder, what letters would we write to our younger selves? What would we write to our future beings? What messages do we send ourselves, today?
