Carol Watchler has been the Outreach Coordinator for the Bayard Rustin Center for Social Justice for the past five years and is active with the UU Princeton’s Rainbow Ministry and Racial Justice Ministry. Carol says, “During this time of growing awareness of our human differences – Black Lives Matter and burgeoning visibility of marginalized people, I have deepened my belief that Bayard Rustin offers a compelling legacy and a challenge for our time – from his many years of commitment to nonviolent direct action in the Civil Rights Movement to his determination to be visible as a Black gay man, to his compelling insights and world vision. Long left invisible in the pantheon of civil rights leaders, Bayard Rustin’s reemergence brings light to a model and inspiration for us all.”
