New Website FAQ
Why Did We Move to a New Website – Feb 6, 2016?
This new site, like the previous, is based on WordPress, which is a free web product. WordPress is an online, open source website creation tool. We still pay a hosting fee to the same provider we have been using for the last few years. So far – no new monies spent!
Are There New Features?
Yes! This new site is mobile device-friendly. It looks good and is easy to navigate on PCs, smartphones, and tablets.
It has a much better graphical interface, more appealing and readable.
We have also enhanced the use of events and updated the pictures.
Where Does the Design (the “theme”) Come From?
The Unitarian Universalist Association (UUA) developed a WordPress theme for adoption by any UU congregation that is willing and interested. The development of this theme involved extensive user interface testing that looked at how website visitors would use and interact with the site. Several UU churches beta-tested the theme. It was released for adoption by all UU congregations in October 2015
Were There Any New Costs For Us?
The UUA allowed early adopters (like UU Princeton!) to install and adopt this WordPress theme for free. Our congregational webmaster did the vast majority of the work on the website. We did pay a consultant a small amount to do some of the more complicated technical tasks.
Where Did the New Logo Come From?
The logo in the upper left corner of each page is the new UUA logo. It is part of the new design and WordPress theme.
What If I See an Error or Something is Missing?
