General Assembly 2016
Unitarian Universalist General Assembly will be next week, July 22-26, in Columbus, Ohio. Delegates from our congregation are: Rev. Bill Neely, Norma Veile, The Trayner’s, Meg Cox Leone, the Fetter’s, and Carol Allen.
Among many and diverse experiences the delegation will have is selecting a new Congregational Study/Action Issue (CSAI) for 2016-2020. Delegates vote for their own choices. However, they might appreciate comments from members of the congregation on the proposed CSAIs. The topics are:
- A National Conversation on Race
- Climate Change and Environmental Justice
- Ending Gun Violence in America
- The Corruption of Our Democracy.
You can read the full text of the CSAI’s here.
Also a copy of the texts for perusal will be on a table in Robinson Lounge Sunday morning. I’ll be glad to forward by email to the delegates any comments offered or contact them directly. Send email comments to me (Carol Allen)
All four proposed topics are vital issues.
(Note that the 2014-2018 CSAI on Economic Inequality continues and will have a Statement of Conscience at GA 2017)
The GA program (112 pages on line) is really an interesting scan for any UU. And you can stream GA sessions live or later.
