We are excited to announce that our renovation project has begun in earnest. Our contractors arrived early this morning and began the demolition necessary to create a new, upgraded facility. The project is scheduled to take 7 months, so we can expect completion sometime before the end of February 2018.
While the end results will be wonderful, the construction process will require some sacrifices on the part of members, friends, and renters.
Please be assured that we are working to minimize these sacrifices and still complete the project efficiently.
One of the first tasks is the demolition of the upstairs bathrooms. We realize that removing these bathrooms before finishing the new handicapped bathrooms may be a hardship. Without getting into too much detail, this is necessary because our current electrical/gas services enter the building where the new bathrooms will be located. So, the services must be moved as a first step. Unfortunately, the old services and chimney run through the current bathroom walls. This is also the route for the new services. Removing the old bathrooms is the only way to get at the piping/wiring.
We will maintain the downstairs bathrooms and also rent a premium Porta-John for use during construction.
As we reach milestones in the project, we will send updates to keep everyone informed.
Thank you for your support.
Kind regards,
Peter Macholdt
